010 Camels

So originally, I was having the hardest time getting my idea down on paper. I spent over an hour "pushing pixels" on paper, only to not be happy with it in the end. I was aiming for "Bored Camel Eating Converse Shoe" (per Aries's request), and I just didn't get that vibe from the first camel I made. So, I started over, focused on the big picture and feeling I was aiming for and bam! In a quick five minutes I had what I wanted. I know Dzu always says to think more and draw less, but in this case I feel like just drawing and not thinking about it so much is what worked.

007-009 Kitties, Caterpillars and Hippos

009: A hippo at my sister's request and a ferret for Walter. Not exactly happy with the way it came out, but oh well... we all have our off days.

008: My brother-in-law showed me these really awesome pictures of caterpillars, and my boyfriend suggested that I draw one for the day :) No complaints. Don't think I've drawn a caterpillar before!

007: My kitties at home! Wanted to play with shapes, but I already know that I need to "push it" (thanks Wattana... I hear you in my head now haha)

005-006

006: And today is my loving boyfriend's birthday! Happy birthday polar bear :) Don't over indulge like this guy just cause you're 21 now!

005: Drove home yesterday for thanksgiving! My sister's puppy is now pretty full grown and she's so bouncey :) I just had to draw her.

004 Pigeon Toed

I didn't know I was pigeon toed until this passed weekend at CTN, and apparently everyone and their mother knew except me and my sister who's also pigeon toed (haha!)

003 Moose Baby

So here we go - day three. This one took a lot longer for some reason. I had the hardest time getting what I had in my head down on paper. Though this is sort of what I was going for, I'm still not quite happy with it. I'll probably make another attempt at a baby moose again tomorrow. They're just so funny looking with their long, lanky legs.

001-002

This weekend was both exciting and tiring after attending LA's CTN Expo! I met tons of wonderful people and artists, all who were so incredibly inspiring that I couldn't wait to draw once I got home.

One person in particular I met was the amazing Chris Ayers. If you aren't familiar with him, he is the author and artist of the book The Daily Zoo which holds 365 drawings by Chris, one drawing each day for a year. He told me that he started these drawings after battling leukemia. In his book, he mentions that he started the sketches the same day that he was diagnosed and each drawing is a personal reminder to do something you love every day. After both hearing and reading his story, I felt so inspired that starting yesterday, I decided that I too would take on the journey (and challenge!) of creating one drawing a day for an entire year.

Below are the first two of the 365 drawings to come.
